It's a Wonderful Life, A Live Radio Play
adapted by Joe Landry

"All that really matters in this treasurable story was vividly rendered with just the right mixture of artifice and sincerity under Hans Meyer's flawless direction."

Creative Loafing Charlotte

"'You've been given a great gift, Charlotte: a chance to see what the world would be like if you'd never lost your professional regional theater.'

At least I think that's what the angel said..."

Charlotte Observer

This show has evolved over the years and still tours every Christmas (ITP now does a new adaptation by Willie Repoley as Landry's version has multiplied itself across the country). I directed the first two productions and played Clarence et al in the second, which was also the first tour. We tried to treat the script as if it had just been slipped under our door and wasn't already a tradition. It turns out that when a story is very, very good, rebuilding it from scratch is a joyful labor.
