Hans is a theater maker currently based in New York. He has directed, acted, sound designed, and stage managed in Asheville NC, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Fort Worth TX, Amherst MA, and Fairbanks AK.
In 2004 he co-founded Immediate Theatre Project. ITP's critically acclaimed production of All My Sons 2006 was the inaugural production of North Carolina Stage Company's Catalyst Series, and as the collaboration between the two companies grew ITP was invited to be NCSC's Partner Company in Residence. This arrangement continues as ITP produces or co-produces at least one show in NCSC's mainstage season each year.
From 2009-2010 he served as Managing Director of Fairbanks Shakespeare Theatre in Alaska, and 2010-2011 saw him installed as Associate Director of Theatre for Youth at Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth TX.
He now works freelance. Upcoming directing projects include An Iliad and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, both for Immediate Theatre Project.
Hans is a proud member of Actors Equity Association and the 2012 & 2013 Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab.
